It's an awkward sentence.
A much better sentence is:
<b>A ship was captured in the Indian Ocean.</b>
A much better sentence is:
<b>A ship was captured in the Indian Ocean.</b>

You could also do:
There was a captured ship in the Indian Ocean.
Or:
In the Indian Ocean, there was a captured ship.
(I would also use more adjectives, but that depends what this is for)
