First, you set it up: 4/n=1/2
then, multiply n to both sides so: (n)(4/n)=(1/2)(n)
the n cancels out on one side so it should look like: 4=1/2(n)
now you just solve for n:
4(1/2)=n so n=2
then, multiply n to both sides so: (n)(4/n)=(1/2)(n)
the n cancels out on one side so it should look like: 4=1/2(n)
now you just solve for n:
4(1/2)=n so n=2

4/n = 1/2
It's a proportion. The same relationship between 4 and 1 exists between n and 2. What is that?

That means 4 times 1 is 4 and then multiply by 2 and so the answer is 8?

Yes, that's right. And you can prove it:
4/8 = 1/2
4/8 = 1/2

Doesn't matter anymore, but I had to correct myself. It's supposed to be 4*2; not 4*1/2, my mistake!
