You need to use parentheses.

x-4/x+3 = x-1/x+2

Is the problem,
x - 4/(x+3) = (x-1)/x + 2
x - 4/x + 3 = x - 1/(x+2)

Or
x - 4/x + 3 = x - 1/x + 2
