Question
Can you please help me simplify this problem? It probably is an easy problem but I do not understand the way my teacher taught it.
1/ [1+(1/ x-2)]
1/ [1+(1/ x-2)]
Answers
start "cleaning it up" from the bottom
1/ [1+(1/ x-2)]
= 1/[ (x-2 + 1)/(x-2)]
= 1/[(x-1)/(x-2)]
= 1 (x-2)/(x-1) , remember to divide by a fraction, we multiply by its reciprocal.
= (x-2)/(x-1)
1/ [1+(1/ x-2)]
= 1/[ (x-2 + 1)/(x-2)]
= 1/[(x-1)/(x-2)]
