i think it might be that the social status was similar since they treated their kings as the highest rank or upper class and so on and so forth until they got to the slaves

If you read even the first paragraph or two of those articles I linked above, you'll find out that there was no one group of people called Mesopotamians. Rather, Mesopotamia was a geographic area in which many groups of people lived, including the Syrians.
