Plot the point(s) on a graph to see which quadrant it is in.

Or, you can memorize this.

For example, Quadrant I, the points are all positive, ie, (x,y).

In Quadrant II, the points would be of the form (-x,y)

Quadrant III, (-x,-y)

Quadrant IV, (x,-y)
