32 - 4y = 2y + 16
32 - 4y + -2y= 2y +16 + -2y
32 + 6y = 16
6y + 32=16
6y/6 = -16/6
y= -2.6
32 - 4y + -2y= 2y +16 + -2y
32 + 6y = 16
6y + 32=16
6y/6 = -16/6
y= -2.6

Looking at the left side only, try to expand that to make things easier:
4(8-y) --> 32-4y
Now that it's expanded, the question looks like this:
32 - 4y = 2y + 16
Does that look easier to solve?
4(8-y) --> 32-4y
Now that it's expanded, the question looks like this:
32 - 4y = 2y + 16
Does that look easier to solve?
