1. Suppose a certain instructor is interested in determining the average final grade for all students taking STA 205 in any given semester. Suppose she obtains the academic records for 100 former STA 205 students. For this scenario, determine both the population and the sample of interest. Be sure to write your answers in the context of the problem.

It is an interesting question. Years ago, I developed an algorithm to predict chemisty final grades bases on the first three weeks work, as based on prior students. I put the predictions away until after the year, then went back and compared. The corelations were significant, 92 percent of the students were within +-2 points of the prediction.
