Karen is 63 inches tall and casts a shadow that is 32 inches long. At the same time, a tree casts a shadow that is 81 inches long. How tall is the tree?

Cross multiply and solve for x.

63/32 = x/81

well first, you set up a poportion 63 over 32,= x over 81. cross multiply 32*x is 32x cross multiply 63 * 81=5,103. 5,103/32x is 159.46...hope this helps..
