One for washing dishes, one for rinsing??
One that has the garbage disposal in the drain, one that does not?
What do you think?
Why arethere two sinks side by side in the kitchen?

There are not always two sinks. It is handy to have one sink to place and soak dirty dishes and pans while using the other half for meal preparation tasks such as washing or peeling vegetables, draining pasta etc.
People who do not use a dishwasher also need two sinks for washing and draining/rinsing dishes

One of my aunts has a particular preference -- one large sink for nearly all uses plus one small one to which the garbage disposal is attached.
