Metalloid is a term used in chemistry when classifying the chemical elements. I am sure that you are aware that nearly every element in the periodic table can be termed either a metal or a nonmetal. However, a few elements with intermediate properties are referred to as metalloids, but there is no rigorous definition of the term.
Metalloids are usually considered to have the following properties
form amphoteric oxides.
behave as semiconductors, in particular B, Si, and Ge.

Boron (B)
Silicon (Si)
Germanium (Ge)
Arsenic (As)
Antimony (Sb)
Tellurium (Te)
Polonium (Po)
A metal is usually described as a chemical element that is a good conductor of both electricity and heat and forms cations and ionic bonds with non-metals.
