Hi. I am working on my Final Project for my medical billing class. I am filling out a CMS-1500 form. The teacher has instructed us to code ONLY the diagnosis code CATEGORIES, NOT the ICD-9 code. I am confused about what the code CATEGORY is? We are coding HIV, AIDS, and Kaposi's Sarcoma. I was thinking that for HIV and AIDS the coding category would be 780-799 and for Kaposi's Sarcoma it would be 140-239, but I am not sure if this is correct. Any guide in the right direction would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!

One of the articles in here might help:

If not, then change the search words and re-search until you find what you need.

Thank you. I have looked over the information but I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to put the coding category in the form correctly. From what I am understanding, the coding categories are in number ranges, (140-239) do I input it just like that? Or should I only input the first number in the category range? I'm so confused! Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated!!
