a+1/6=3/5
subtract 1/6 on each side:
a+(1/6)-(1/6)=(3/5)-(1/6)
a=(3/5)-(1/6)
The common denominator is 30, so
a=(3*6/30 - 1*5/30)
=(18-5)/30
=13/30
