Slope can be calculated from Δy/Δx, that is the change in y divided by the change in x. This is the same as the tangent of the angle with the x-axis.
Inclination is the angle between a line or a plane with another reference object. In 2-D analytic geometry, inclination would be measured from the x-axis, which in turn would be arctan(slope).
