x + 7/10 = -1/5
We need to get the known quantities on one side and the unknowns on the other side.
First subtract 7/10 from both sides of the equation.
x + 7/10 - 7/10 = -1/5 - 7/10
x = -2/10 - 7/10
x = -9/10

I would subtract 7/10 from each side.
x=-1/5-7/10
x= -2/10-7/10=-9/10
x=-1/5-7/10
x= -2/10-7/10=-9/10
