The sum of two numbers is 44. The second number is 5 more than twice the first. Find the numbers.

x+y=44
2x+5y
Is this correct? So the answer would be 3x + 6y=44?

b=second number

a+b=44

b=5+2a

a+b=a+5+2a =3a+5= 44

3a+5=44

3a=44-5

3a=39 Divided with 3

3a/3=39/3

a=13

b=5+2a

b=5+2*13

b=5+26

b=31

a+b=13+31=44
