"To be on the dole" is more commonly used. It is an expression more commonly used in Great Britain and Ireland than the USA.

1) Your sentences are confused and sometimes disconnected. Check the spelling in the dictionary before writing a word and make sure you are using tenses correctly.
2) White people failed (their mission) because they didn’t bring civilization to Africa but only slavery and violence.
3)they failed their mission of bringing civilization to Africa because they used violence and enslaved the natives.
4) Can you tell me which alternatives are possible?:
work shifts / do shifts (?)
work overtime/do overtime ?
to be on the dole/to live on the dole (the dole is the unemployment benefit)
ill-mannered, rude, bad mannered (??)
to top up one's mobile phone
to recharge/load a mobile phone
to subscribe to a telephone company
