Each floor is l0 ft. He wants to build 18 steps with a total run of 14 ft. What is the ratio? What is the
slope of each step?


The height/run ratio of the staircase is 10/14 = 5/7

Each step is 14/18 feet long (9.33 inches) and rises 10 ft/18 = 0.556 feet = 6.6667 inches. The overall slope of the stairs is 6.667/9.333 = 5/7
