(7/3)x + (1/3)x = 4x + 48/3 + (8/3)x
combine similar terms,, for terms with same variables, add the numerical coefficient (number before the variable) and copy the variable:
(7/3 + 1/3)x = 4x + 48/3 + (8/3)x
*since 7/3 and 1/3 have the same denominator, just add the numerator
*also note that 48/3 = 16:
(8/3)x = 4x + 16 +(8/3)x
combine similar terms,, 8/3 x will be cancelled:
0 = 4x + 16
4x = -16
x = -4
