Haha — that’s a great little moment. Totally understandable to be like “whuuuuut?” — emote spamming can be playful, awkward, or totally random depending on the person.
Quick takes on what might've been going on
- They were being playful/meme-y and decided hearts were funny.
- They might’ve recognized you and used hearts as a cute “hey” instead of the handshake.
- They could’ve been avoiding closer interaction (hearts are an easy, noncommittal response).
- Or they were just spamming because it’s funny — no deeper meaning.
What you can do next time
- Roll with it: spam the heart emote back or do something silly yourself. It makes for a light, friendly interaction.
- Mirror them: copy their emote or follow up with a different fun emote — playful mirroring builds rapport.
- Clarify if you want to: type “were you the same player from this morning?” or “you earlier?” — short and direct.
- Add them or invite to a party if you want to keep playing and confirm identity.
- Don’t assume gender — ask or treat them based on how they present/what they say.
One-liners you can use in chat
- “Plot twist: hearts only? Okay lol.”
- “Same person from this morning??”
- “New handshake: 100% hearts.”
Bottom line: it’s probably harmless and kinda funny. If you want to know who they were, ask or add them; otherwise, have fun and embrace the meme.
