Just Another Day

Just before sunset one morning in June,
The snow fell, and lasted the whole afternoon.
I put on my shorts and my jacket and tie.
(This story is false, - cause I don't ever lie.)
I went back to bed and arrived at my school.
We did math in the art room and read in the pool.
For lunch, I had pencils with sauce on the side.
Then I slid on the swings, and I swung on the slide.
I wrote with my ears, and I saw with my pen.
Then I flew to the moon, and awoke once again.

What If?

Have you ever wondered how it would be
If we lived in a world without gravity?
Or what if the sky wasn't so high?
If you could jump on clouds, would you try?
What if snow was purple, and water pink?
Would you be afraid to take a drink?
Now, what would you do if instead of the Moon,
The night sky each June was lit up by a spoon?
If the oceans were made of gumdrops,
What kind of fish would there be?
And if grass was made of jelly,
Would the sky be full of bees?
Oh, I say with a sigh, wouldn't it be fun to fly?
Would you fly to the Moon or just stay home in your room?
What do the poems have in common?
a
They are both dreams.
b
They are both about a fantasy Earth.
c
They are both about life on other planets.
d
They are both true stories.

a

Both poems describe impossible, imaginative events (like flying to the moon in a day and oceans of gumdrops), so they are dreamlike rather than real.
