Presenting Your Design Solution PortfolioIn this portfolio, you have identified a problem related to preserving biodiversity. You have also evaluated and compared different solutions that will help to prevent biodiversity loss. Now that you have chosen, researched, developed, and evaluated a design solution for this problem, you will present your information.A presentation can have several goals. Your main goal in this presentation will be to share information about your design solution. However, consider the following goals as well as you go forward:informing your audience about threats to biodiversitypersuading your audience that your solution is the most effectiveconvincing your audience to participate in your solutioninstructing your audience as to how they can personally implement your solutionmotivating your audience to become excited about what your solution has to offerAs you plan your presentation, think about how you will accomplish all of these goals. The rubric here will help you to assess your writing. Read it carefully to see how well you have followed the rules for writing a presentation.Reflect on the Portfolio:Review your completed activities that are to be submitted to your teacher, and consider the following:How did you choose a design solution to develop? What made you choose the ecosystem for which it is designed? What was the most difficult part of this portfolio? What strategies did you use to finish it?Do you think your solution is the only correct solution for this problem? Explain. write it as a 6th grader and make it look like my parents helped me but don't make it obvious.

For my portfolio I chose a design solution to help protect a local wetland. I picked this solution because I noticed the wetland near my neighborhood has fewer frogs and birds than before. I wanted something that would help lots of different plants and animals, so I made a plan that focuses on reducing pollution and adding native plants. My parents helped me check facts and find good information, and we talked about what would work best for our area.

I chose the wetland ecosystem because it is close to my home and I could visit it to study what was happening. Wetlands are important because they clean water, stop floods, and give animals a place to live. I thought it would be meaningful to help a place I could actually see and measure. I also picked it because it had problems that my design could really help with, like runoff and invasive plants.

The most difficult part of this portfolio was deciding which ideas would be realistic and affordable. I had a lot of ideas, but not all of them could be done by a small group of people. To finish the project I made a list of steps, set deadlines, and practiced explaining my plan out loud. My parents helped me practice the presentation and gave ideas for how to make my plan clearer.

I don’t think my solution is the only correct one. There are many ways to protect biodiversity, and other people might have better ideas for different places or budgets. My solution is one good option for this wetland, but combining ideas—like community cleanups, laws to reduce pollution, and education—would work even better. I hope my project will inspire others to try their own solutions too.
