The Costs of a Moon Mission Are Out of This World!
Between 1960 and 1973, the United States spent roughly $28 billion on its efforts to send astronauts to the moon. In today’s dollars, that is equal to almost $300 billion. During the 1960s, this spending allowed the country to take the lead in the global space race. It was worth the high price tag. Today, however, it is difficult to imagine the justification for such spending to repeat a feat we have already accomplished. The money will be better spent here on Earth.
