School-related stress is a major cause of increased anxiety and depression in teens because heavy academic pressure, harmful social dynamics at school, and limited access to mental-health support all make it harder for students to cope.

Three thesis points:
1. Academic pressure and workload — Constant testing, large amounts of homework, and the push to get into college create chronic stress and sleep loss that raise anxiety and depressive symptoms.
2. Social and peer-related stress — Bullying, peer pressure, and negative social comparisons (including on social media) increase feelings of isolation and low self-worth, which contribute to anxiety and depression.
3. Lack of support and resources — Many schools don’t offer enough counselors, mental-health programs, or stigma-free spaces, so students struggling with anxiety or depression often don’t get help.
