Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of a fluid (liquid or gas) caused by density differences: warmer, less dense fluid rises while cooler, denser fluid sinks. This creates circulating currents that carry heat from one place to another. A common example is boiling water in a pot, where hot water rises from the bottom and cooler water moves down to be heated, forming convection currents.
