I am a citizen of Brazil and I live in a busy neighborhood near the city. Most days I feel proud of our music, food, and friendly people. Sometimes I worry about safety and jobs, but I am happy when neighbors help each other. I like the warm weather and the small parks where kids play.

In Brazil we have a democracy. People vote for the president, governors, mayors, and members of Congress. Our leaders are chosen by many votes, so the government should listen to the people. This makes me feel that my voice can matter.

I participate by voting in elections and by going to local meetings about schools and trash collection. I signed a petition once and talked with neighbors about problems in our street. I also volunteer sometimes in a community clean-up. Doing small things makes me feel like I help change my city for the better.
