I know a lot about Australia! Here are some cool facts like a 6th grader would say:

- Australia is both a country and a whole continent.
- It’s really big — the 6th biggest country in the world.
- About 26 million people live there.
- The capital is Canberra, but the biggest city is Sydney.
- Famous places: the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Great Barrier Reef, and Uluru (Ayers Rock).
- Lots of unique animals live there: kangaroos, koalas, wombats, platypuses, echidnas, and the cassowary.
- It also has some dangerous animals like certain snakes and spiders, so people are careful.
- The climate is different all over: tropical in the north, deserts in the middle (the Outback), and cooler in the south.
- Seasons are opposite ours in the Northern Hemisphere — Christmas is in summer!
- Most people speak English and use the Australian dollar.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the first Australians and have lived there for tens of thousands of years.
- Australians love sports like cricket, rugby, and Aussie Rules football.
