If each square base of the case has an area of 49 square inches, what is the surface area of the case, in square inches?

The base side is sqrt(49) = 7 in. The height = volume / base area = 686 / 49 = 14 in.
Surface area = 2(base area) + (perimeter of base)(height) = 2(49) + 4(7)(14) = 98 + 392 = 490.
So the surface area is 490 square inches.
