Steve and Jamie glared at each other from opposite sides of the hotel room.
"How could you be so forgetful?" shouted Steve. "The notes for my speech were in that briefcase, which is sitting on the kitchen table because you forgot to grab it."
Jamie replied, "I'm not responsible for everything! I don't know who or what gave you that impression. If that briefcase was so important to you, then you should have taken responsibility for it yourself!"
"Next time I'll let you be responsible for carrying your own suitcases to the car—all three of them!" Steve shouted from across the room.
At that, Jamie got up, walked into the bathroom and slammed the door. There was nowhere else private to go in a hotel room and she wanted to get away from Steve. She didn't mean to forget Steve's briefcase, and she felt just awful for yelling, but this wasn't entirely her fault, and she refused to take all the blame. Steve needed to grow up and take some responsibility, and she was going to stand her ground this time.
Steve watched Jamie disappear into the bathroom, oblivious to any reason why she should be mad at him. 0K, he probably shouldn't have yelled at her, but she should understand how stressed he was right now, with the speech and all. He had twenty-four hours to recreate what he had spent weeks preparing. He'd give her some time to cool off, and then he'll apologize so things could return to normal, but right now, he needed to start rewriting his speech.
