The Guffman boys basketball team walked off of the bus and looked straight into the faces of their enemies. The opposing team was taller, faster, stronger, and they were watching every move the Guffman team made as they made their way into the locker room.

As they got dressed, the coach went over his plays. The team forward, Dory, was disturbed to hear the sound of the crowd ringing outside of the locker room. Their chants echoed and shook the walls. It made Dory's already weak stomach turn and churn.

Max, the team's captain, was confident though. He was the only person on the team who had played against Molina High School before. He knew they were the defending state champions, but he wasn't scared. He was always the confident one. The only thing unusual about Max was that he normally talked quite a bit before the game. Today he was quiet. Still, he walked confidently and gave everyone a small grin. He was ready, and the team was ready too.
