27 One day, Dan went down to the lake with a crate. The cat was lying peacefully in a canoe, licking its front paw. Dan trapped the cat in the canoe and chased it into the crate. The cat yowled angrily. Reggie, Maya, and the other campers saw the whole thing. Dan carried the crate to his truck and drove away.
28 Reggie and Maya watched the truck kick up a cloud of dust as it sped off. "Where do you think he's going?" Reggie asked. Maya shrugged, staring at the settling dust cloud. Then, she turned around and shuffled off, her head hung low.
