If you are home alone and strangers come to the door, do this:

1. Do not open the door. Keep it locked.
2. Talk through the door or the window. Say, “I’m sorry. I can’t let you in.”
3. Offer to call someone for them. Say, “I will call for help.” Then call your mom, dad, or a trusted adult.
4. If you feel scared, call 911 right away and tell them what is happening.
5. Do not go outside with them. Do not give them your keys or let them in.
6. Stay in a safe room with the door closed until an adult or the police arrive.

It’s okay to be polite, but your safety comes first.
