Growing Pains
B. Hawk

Growing up is a part of life
So is growing older
You are forever doing both
All at once, all together
5 Even it's the notion you loathe

The process goes on unnoticed
And unbeknownst to you
You grow a little taller,
A little older,
10 Every moment of the day.

One day, you feel a pulsing pain
In the limb, behind the knee
Cramps in muscles
ACHY, SHAKY!
15 You don’t feel the same.

It’s all a part of life
So, hold your jostle
Let up your strife
Slow down your bustle
20 Play some fife

And watch yourself GROW!!
What can the reader conclude based on the poem?
A All living things go through a life cycle.
B Life, for some, can get very complicated.
C Growth and development can be messy.
D Nothing is achieved without trying hard.

The poem emphasizes that growing (and aging) happens constantly and can include discomfort—aches, cramps, not feeling the same—so growth and development can be messy.
