How to tell yourself: a scale drawing is an enlargement (a dilation that increased size) when every corresponding linear measure in the drawing is larger than the original by the same factor. So:

- Measure a convenient length on the original and the corresponding length on the scale drawing (or count grid squares).
- Compute scale factor = (length on scale drawing) ÷ (length on original).
- If the scale factor > 1 (and all corresponding ratios match), it’s a dilation that increased the size.
