Kyle is searching for the solver function but cannot seem to find it anywhere, not even under the Data tab in the ribbon.
Where can it be found?
If it is not on the ribbon, it has not been activated; Kyle needs to activate it under Add-Ins in the Excel Options dialog box.
It is not under the Data tab because it is a formula; Kyle needs to look under the Formula tab on the ribbon in the Add-Ins group.
It is not a function that is usually displayed on the ribbon; Kyle can add it to the ribbon as a macro function.
Solver is a separate program; Kyle needs to launch it from his operating system's Start menu.

Correct answer: "If it is not on the ribbon, it has not been activated; Kyle needs to activate it under Add-Ins in the Excel Options dialog box."
How to enable Solver
- Windows (Excel desktop): File → Options → Add‑Ins. In the Manage box at the bottom choose "Excel Add‑ins" and click Go. Check "Solver Add-in" and click OK. Solver will then appear on the Data tab in the Analysis group.
- Mac: Tools → Add‑Ins (or Excel → Preferences → Add‑Ins in some versions), check "Solver Add‑in" and OK. Solver then appears on the Data tab.
- If Solver is not listed, use Browse to locate the Solver add‑in file (Solver.xlam) or install Office/Excel updates. (Excel Online does not include Solver.)
