will that help me to factor the equation because I did it and I got 3+ or - 5i all over 2 and that's not going to help me factor the equation

Well, it does.
x= -b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac) /2
x=3/2 +- 1/2 sqrt (9-16)
x= 1.5 +-i/2 sqrt7
(x-1.5+isqrt7/4)(x-1.5-isqrt7/4)
check that.
