Prompt restated: Should students be allowed to take mental health days off school?

I think students should be allowed mental health days because taking occasional time to rest and recover can prevent burnout, reduce anxiety, and help students return more focused and able to learn. Letting students pause when they’re overwhelmed can also reduce longer-term absences and serious crises by encouraging early care. Some people worry that students might abuse the policy or fall behind academically; that concern is valid, but clear guidelines (limit the number, require a check-in with a counselor or make-up work) can reduce misuse while still supporting those who need it.
