When you breathe, oxygen goes into your lungs and the blood picks it up and carries it all over your body, then brings carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be breathed out. For example, when you run at recess your breathing gets faster and your heart pumps harder so your muscles get more oxygen and can keep working. If these systems didn't cooperate, your cells wouldn't get enough oxygen and you'd feel weak, dizzy, or faint.
