Red tape can be used to repair a broken taillight on a car. Explain in one or two sentences how different colors of light are transmitted, reflected, and absorbed by this kind of tape.

Red tape lets red light pass through but absorbs or blocks most other colors, so a white bulb looks red when covered by the tape. Some light also reflects off the tape’s surface, and because the tape blocks part of the light the taillight will look dimmer than before.
