Red tape can be used to repair a broken taillight on a car. Explain in one or two sentences how different colors of light are transmitted, reflected, and absorbed by this kind of tape.

When white light (which contains all colors) shines on red taillight tape, the tape transmits the red wavelengths so they pass through, absorbs the blue and green wavelengths so those colors do not get through, and reflects a little red light from the surface. The absorbed light is mostly converted into a small amount of heat, which is why the tape appears red to an observer.
