Red tape can be used to repair a broken taillight on a car. Explain in one or two sentences how different colors of light are transmitted, reflected, and absorbed by this kind of tape.

Colored tape works like a filter: it lets light of its own color pass through, but soaks up (absorbs) most other colors and also reflects a little light. So red tape over a taillight will let red light through (making the brake light look red, though a bit dimmer because some light is absorbed) and will also look red in daylight because it reflects red wavelengths from outside light.
