I don’t have the diagram, so I can’t tell which side is opposite angle D. The side opposite an angle is the side that does not touch that angle (it’s the side across from the vertex).

If this is the 5–12–13 right triangle and angle D is the right angle, then the side opposite D is the hypotenuse 13. If angle D is at a vertex adjacent to the side of length 5, then the side opposite D is 5; if it’s adjacent to the side of length 12, the side opposite D is 12.

Share the triangle diagram or say which vertex has angle D and which sides connect the vertices, and I’ll pick the correct length.
