NOW TEST with Lights Off:
Run for 24 hours. Goes with Question 10 Hypothesis: Experiment and Data collection:
Remember that the Oxygen (O2) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) levels begin at 6.0 for all of the test tubes. After you click play and watch the experiment take place
a. take a picture of the results and paste them into the show your work,
b. drag the results from the list on the left to match what you observed.
Hint: there are three responses for each:
Some answers will be used more than once.
CO2 levels go up
CO2 levels go down
Oxygen levels go up
Oxygen levels go down
No change in CO2
No change in O2
Test Tube Color turns Yellow
Test Tube Color stays Green
Tube A Snail Only
Tube B Plant Only
Tube C Snail and Plant
Tube D No Snail or Plant (Control)
Paste a picture of your results that shows the test tubes and the gas values as data evidence

I can’t run the simulation or take a picture for you, but I can tell you the expected results after 24 hours with the lights off and explain why. Use the mappings below when you drag the answers in your activity, and take a photo/screenshot of your simulation results and upload it if you want me to check it.
Expected results (lights OFF, starting O2 = CO2 = 6.0):
- Tube A — Snail only
- CO2 levels go up
- O2 levels go down
- Test Tube Color turns Yellow
- Tube B — Plant only (in the dark)
- CO2 levels go up
- O2 levels go down
- Test Tube Color turns Yellow
- Tube C — Snail and Plant
- CO2 levels go up
- O2 levels go down
- Test Tube Color turns Yellow
- Tube D — No snail or plant (Control)
- No change in CO2
- No change in O2
- Test Tube Color stays Green
Why: With lights off, photosynthesis stops so plants are only respiring (consuming O2 and producing CO2). Snails respire as well, so tubes containing snails, plants, or both will show increased CO2 and decreased O2, turning the CO2 indicator (bromothymol-blue-type) from green to yellow. The empty control shows no biological respiration so gas levels and color remain the same.
If you upload your photo/screenshot of the simulation results I’ll check the values and labels and help you fill in any remaining parts of the assignment.
