In order to obtain the highest mark, these criteria must be met:

Organization is distinctly on target with the demands of the writing prompt.
The progression of ideas is strong or easy to follow.
The response to the prompt is unique and adds substance to the essay.
Writer's word choice is consistently precise and purposeful.
Sentences show command of sentence structure, and if any minor errors are evident, they do not detract from the message being presented.

I used four ways to build confidence and triumph over hesitation when we worked on our speaking unit. First I practiced my speech many times at home and in class until the words felt natural. Second I set small goals like speaking for thirty seconds before trying the whole presentation. Third I prepared by making note cards and practicing my breathing before I started. These steps helped me feel ready and less nervous when it was my turn to speak.

Fourth I used positive self talk and asked for feedback from my teacher and friends to improve. I told myself I could do it and I reminded myself of the small goals I had reached. My partner gave me helpful tips and my teacher showed me how to stand tall and use my voice. By practicing with feedback and using kind words to myself I became more confident and less hesitant. I know that if I keep using these four ways I will keep improving in other classes too.
