In order to obtain the highest mark, these criteria must be met:

The progression of ideas is strong or easy to follow.
The response to the prompt is unique and adds substance to the essay.
Writer's word choice is consistently precise and purposeful.
Sentences show command of sentence structure, and if any minor errors are evident, they do not detract from the message being presented.

One way to build confidence and beat hesitation is to practice a skill often. When we practiced short speeches in our unit, the words felt easier and our hands stopped shaking. A second way is to break a big task into small steps and set small goals. For example, we first practiced the opening line, then the middle, and then the ending so the whole speech felt doable. These steps help us feel ready and make hesitation fade.

A third way to grow confidence is to use kind, positive self talk and imagine success. In the unit we used quiet phrases like I can do this after practicing and that calm voice helped us stay steady. A fourth way is to ask for help and get feedback from teachers and friends. When classmates gave gentle tips and we fixed one small part, our talking and acting got better and hesitation went away. Together these four ways by practicing, setting small goals, using kind self talk, and asking for help make it easier to triumph over fear.
