Describe Canada’s location in relation to the United States.

Canada lies directly to the north of the United States. The two countries share the world’s longest international land border (about 8,891 km / 5,525 mi), which runs roughly east–west across the North American continent from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and continues into the Arctic.

Most of Canada is north of the 48 contiguous U.S. states; the U.S. state of Alaska shares a border with Canada on its eastern side (Alaska is separated from the lower 48 by Canadian territory). Several Canadian provinces and the Yukon Territory border U.S. states along this boundary.
