Highlight 1 — silhouette: these big changes in shape made people feel a certain way (free, practical, glamorous, rebellious) and gave each decade a clear, easy-to-recognize personality.

From the 1970s to today, style has been shaped less by one silhouette and more by how quickly and widely ideas spread, plus a growing mix-and-match attitude. Disco, punk, and power dressing of the 70s–80s, grunge and minimalism in the 90s, and the fast-fashion/athleisure/streetwear mix of the 2000s–2020s all show how media, celebrity, and later social platforms sped trend cycles and let everyone borrow looks from everywhere. Highlight 2 — media & accessibility: as magazines, TV, and now social media made images omnipresent, style became more personal and democratic, so the era’s personality shifted toward individuality, speed, and blending old and new.
