Yes — Milgram’s experiments reveal a “dark side” in that ordinary people will obey authority and perform harmful acts when placed in a pressured, institutional context, showing how social forces can override personal morals. However, it is not proof that people are innately evil; the findings show situational vulnerability (obedience, diffusion of responsibility, and conformity) rather than a universal, fixed propensity for cruelty, and many participants also displayed distress or refused to continue, so context and structure — not only character — explain much of the behavior.
