Juan Gris’s work is more ordered, geometric, and decoratively planned than Picasso’s. In Le Canigou Gris simplifies the scene into clear, interlocking planes and a harmonious color scheme, using bright, flat color and crisp outlines. By contrast, Picasso’s cubism often fragmented forms more aggressively, used darker, more muted tones in analytic phases, and pushed for expressive distortion and drama. In short, Gris favored a cleaner, more systematic and stable version of Cubism while Picasso was more experimental and varied.
