Think about a normal day at school. What are some of the things you do in the classroom? Write about the activities and the objects you use to do them.

A normal day at school starts when I hang my backpack on my hook and take out my pencil case, notebook, and folder. We usually begin with a quick morning meeting where the teacher uses the whiteboard or smartboard to write the schedule and the calendar. I listen, follow along, and sometimes read aloud from our reading book.

During lessons I do lots of different activities. For reading time I use my library book or a textbook and a bookmark; sometimes we sit on the carpet and the teacher reads using a big picture book. For writing I use pencils, pens, an eraser, and my notebook to copy notes or finish a worksheet. In math I use a ruler, a calculator, and manipulatives like blocks or counters to solve problems. When the teacher shows slides or videos we watch them on the projector or on classroom computers and take notes on lined paper.

We also do hands-on work and group activities. In science we use magnifying glasses, measuring cups, or safety goggles for experiments. In art we use crayons, colored pencils, scissors, glue, and construction paper to make projects. For group work we share a table, pass out materials, and use a chart paper or poster board to plan a presentation. At the end of the day I pack my completed work into my folder, check my planner, put my supplies back in my backpack, and wait for the bell. These objects and activities help me learn, practice skills, and work with my classmates.
